Even entrepreneurs need to relax. Now that the semester is winding down, finals season is officially making a comeback. Being the building that experiences the highest volume of student traffic on campus, Bird Library is no stranger to any student in preparation for finals. Stress levels are undoubtedly running high, whether you are studying for four exams at once or cramming in last minute papers. The Blackstone LaunchPad is here to provide a brief moment of relief and relaxation for students with the first Wellness Popup at the annual ‘Cuse Market.
The Wellness Popup will take place inside the Blackstone LaunchPad during 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 20. The hour long workshop will be facilitated by Rebecca Shaffer Mannion (pictured above), a registered yoga teacher who teaches yoga courses at Syracuse University. Mannion is also a professor at the School of Information Studies. Mannion will be running a workshop focused on practicing mindfulness through Kripalu Yoga. Kripalu Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga that includes inner focus, meditation, standard yoga poses, and relaxation. Kripalu emphasizes “following the flow” of prana, or “life-force energy, compassionate self-acceptance, observing the activity of the mind without judgment, and taking what is learned into daily life.
Held in the Blackstone LaunchPad, the glass cube on the main floor of Bird Library, Mannion will be utilizing chairs in select poses so students are encouraged to practice yoga and mindfulness outside of the workshop.
The Wellness Popup is an extension of the LaunchPad’s ‘Cuse Market, a popup market bazaar that showcases products, services and startup ideas from members across the University and Syracuse community. This annual event attracts hundreds of visitors in the past years. ‘Cuse Market celebrates the diversity of the SU entrepreneurial platform — you won’t want to miss out!
Come meet student entrepreneurs who are full of fresh and fun ideas at ‘Cuse Market and also take a chance to relax during your busy day with us!
