The Blackstone LaunchPad powered by Techstars at Syracuse University boasts some pretty impressive stats.  With more than 4,100 members hailing from 116 countries and every campus academic program, there is one data point that really stands out. 50% of our members are women — championing ideas and ventures as female founders, or in executive team roles.  That’s especially impressive because the national percentage of female startups is around 17%, according to a recent study by Crunchbase.  Last year women-led startups only got only 2 percent of venture capital and only 5% of the Fortune 500 CEOs are women.  In the LaunchPad at Bird Library, our magic number is 50/50, and we’re pretty proud that we’re growing the next generation of diverse women leaders right here. This March, which is Women’s History Month, help us celebrate by using our unique hashtag #LaunchStrongWomen to empower the voices of SU female founders who are trailblazers, writing their own personal history, while becoming change agents and innovators in communities around the world.
