The Lender Center for Social Justice encourages students from all academic disciplines at Syracuse University to apply for the 2019-2021 Lender Student Fellowship. The purpose of this research opportunity is to engage in a collaborative research project led by an SU faculty member.
The 2019-2021 Lender Fellowship project will be led by Dr. Casarae Gibson-Abdul-Ghani and focus on digital social justice. A team of five Lender Student Fellows will create social media projects using data analysis to identify ongoing movements inspired by critical perspectives of social (in) justice. Through exploratory categories such as race, gender, class, sexuality, or other societal concerns, the team will examine messages to identify trends in social media. We welcome students from all academic disciplines who are passionate about finding solutions to complex problems and want to sustain and encourage diversity and inclusion at Syracuse University.
Selected fellows will:
- Work closely with the faculty fellow in developing the collaborative research project;
- Work with students from various disciplines in a dynamic research environment; and
- Participate in public discussions and presentations of the research project. In addition, to support the collaborative research project, student fellows will receive funding support for each of the two years.
The deadline for applications is due October 15, 2019.
