Learn how to be an innovator this summer at Invent@SU

student in a small group working on an invention

This summer, Invent@SU returns to transform undergraduate students into inventors as they design, prototype, and pitch original devices. Spots are now available for the Summer 2022 session starting Monday May 23 on the Syracuse University campus.Apply before the March 3 deadline at invent.syr.edu/apply.

Twenty-one students will be accepted into the program to work in seven teams.  Participants receive:

  • A $2,200 stipend for each student
  • A $1,000 team budget for materials
  • Guidance from expert consultants and evaluators
  • Access to laser cutters, 3D printers, a machine shop, and pro machinists
  • Daily lunch, coffee, and snacks

During Invent@SU, students learn about design, ideation, and intellectual property, then conceive an original invention, prototype the invention and refine it in response to weekly feedback from diverse audiences of guest evaluators. They will have help from faculty in developing their invention and their pitch.

Previous Invent@SU teams have gone on to work with the Blackstone LaunchPad to grow their own company and win funding at entrepreneur competitions on campus and around the country.

The immersive invention accelerator will be held on the Syracuse campus from Monday May 23 to Friday July 1, 2022.

Final judging will be held during Week 6 of the program. The first-place team will win $1500, second-place wins $900 and the third-place team wins $600.
