Entrepreneurs, are you looking for a new way to compete outside of business plan competitions? Well, you’re in luck.  The Blackstone LaunchPad powered by Techstars at SU Libraries has officially launched a new badge system for celebrating milestones and startup stages as student entrepreneurs and their ventures gain traction.  Featuring badges for building a team, closing a first sale, incorporating a business, and more, this new badge system is geared to both reward entrepreneurs who have put in the work, and create a more competitive environment to motivate startups along their journey.  The badges come straight from the LaunchPad’s roadmap template, as well as suggestions from members and mentors. Global Media Fellow and Eagle Scout Nick Barba created the badge system in hopes of adding a bit of a celebration to each new step of creating a startup company. Barba believes entrepreneurs do not typically give themselves enough credit for their efforts, and wants to be see student startups receive the kudos they deserve when they reach milestones.  “Every step closer you take to being ready for your first investment, is a step to celebrate,” says Barba.  “We want to share your experiences, and every small step along the way, as you move from concept to commercialization.  The system also very publicly helps students see where they can find help from peers who have already achieved goals, and foster collaborative community building.”  Follow the progress on the Badge Board in the LaunchPad.  Which entrepreneur will earn the most badges by the end of the academic year?  Stay tuned …
