February 28 is deadline to apply for student innovation grants

The deadline is fast approaching for undergraduate students to apply to Syracuse University’s Undergraduate Research Center, second floor of Bird Library, to support original research or creative work over the summer or projects over the next academic year.  Summer research grants will be $2,800, and more substantial projects to be conducted through the 2019-20 academic year will be considered for funding up to $5,000.  The original work must be conducted with a faculty mentor. The summer and academic year funding programs are open to full-time undergraduates who are continuing students next academic year.

To apply for the grants, visit the Syracuse University Application Portal.  Other funding opportunities through the program will be available later, including a request for a different group of proposals in the fall.  In fall 2018, Syracuse University announced the commitment of $1 million annually to support a new Center for Undergraduate Research to strengthen the University’s position as a preeminent and inclusive student-focused research institution. The undergraduate research grants are funded through the University’s $100 million Invest Syracuse initiative, and to support projects acro ss colleges and schools to create a culture of curiosity and discovery on the Syracuse University campus.
