Student Entrepreneur Showcase

Join us on September 29, 2023 at 3pm in the LaunchPad for a student entrepreneur showcase highlighting 12 students and their businesses. Students must submit an appeal LAYon that comprises a five-slide pitch deck of their business (more info on pitch deck below). Judges and members of the LaunchPad will then go through each application and select 12 finalists. The 12 finalists will have until Friday of the event to prepare their booths and elevator pitches. The whole premise of the event is for students to get used to pitching to audiences (alumni) in a comfortable setting before aiming for investors. Winners are picked based on how many LaunchPad bucks they receive from alumni. When alumni enter the event, they are handed LaunchPad bucks of 1 $500, 2 $100, and 2 $50 bills. They can allocate these “bucks” into a ballot box which is associated with each 12 participants. Whoever earns the most “investments” will win the first place prize of $1000. The rest of the prize money is won based on a typical pyramid ranking structure. Once alumni are finished talking to each participant, they can step aside, enjoy some food, network with other students, and wait for the winner announcements.
