EmpowerU, a group formed this fall as a partnership between the Syracuse LaunchPad and Wo-manly, is hosting a Vision Board meeting on Thursday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m. It is designed to offer a laid-back event for a study break and a bit of rejuvenation over cookies, tea, hot cocoa, and crafting supplies needed to create a beautiful board filled with reflections from this past semester.  Feel free to bring any other crafting as well, if you’d like to knit, draw, or anything else to the LaunchPad, first floor of Bird Library.  RSVP here.

EmpowerU is open to anyone who identifies as a woman, as well as non-binary individuals, gender fluid individuals, and those of all sexual orientations and gender identities who want to grow personally and professionally in an inclusive and safe environment.

Here are some opportunities being offered by EmpowerU:

GroupMe:  Join the EmpowerU GroupMe here for announcements, event info, and general community news.

Mentor Matching: If you’re interested in a professional mentor within your career field, please fill out the form here and EmpowerU will match you with someone over break.

Study Hours: Study hours will be offered in the LaunchPad (with tea and coffee) this week on Tuesday 2-4pm and Wednesday 3:45-5pm. During finals week, study hours will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 1-3 pm.

At the Blackstone LaunchPad at Syracuse University, we are interested in growing the next generation of woman innovators.  EmpowerU is a new LaunchPad community, a space for women and allies to encourage each other in fearless professional growth. Overcoming biases in the workplace, dealing with imposter syndrome, advocating for oneself and one’s work, holding confidence in one’s skills, being unafraid to propose new ideas and projects, not backing down in the face of criticism, and going after one’s visions are just a few examples of what the group hopes to cultivate in each other in this community.
