Behavioral changes from COVID-19 are beginning
to produce some unexpected outcomes. Recent
studies indicate that pollution and greenhouse gas emissions have fallen across
continents as countries try to contain the spread of the virus. While it is far from certain if these
environmental changes will produce more long-lasting changes, Conservation X Labs is challenging
college students around the world to a virtual ideathon and prototyping
competition for behavior change and technology solutions for environmental
challenges. Syracuse University and SUNY
ESF students are invited to participate in Con X Tech Prize, a global competition that
provides prototype grants for teams with
a bold idea for conservation. The competition will fund 20 finalists and
provide mentoring and support through a 12-week prototyping period to create a model
of their idea, and vie for a $20,000 grand prize, including opportunities for
partnerships to develop and scale the innovation.
To
help participants develop potentially impactful solutions, Conservation X Labs
is running a virtual ideation event Earth Week, on Saturday, April 25. The
half-day ideathon will feature behavior change and conservation experts to help
generate ideas to submit to the Con X Tech Prize by May 4.
