David Fox, a 2019 iSchool graduate, current SU College of Law student, and Rubin Family Innovation Mentor for the Blackstone Launchpad powered by Techstars, will present a Toolkit Tuesday session on October 22, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on improving your self-worth through helping others. His presentation will discuss how helping other people solve their problems can actually improve your worth not only personally, but professionally. Employers are looking for empathetic leaders and strong decision-makers, and David’s presentation will illustrate your ability to improve these skills through the process of interacting and problem-solving with the people around you. It will demonstrate the principles of growth through collaboration.
Fox says that, “I understand that my role is not to be the best person in the room. It’s to be the one who makes everyone else better.”
This principle embodies the Techstars philosophy of #GiveFirst. “Give First means simply trying to help anyone – especially entrepreneurs – with no expectation of getting anything back,” according to Techstars. “It’s the pay-it-forward principle that builds strong startup networks.”
Techstars offers a podcast which touches on this principle. Podcast hosts David Cohen and Brad Feld – Techstars cofounders, lifelong entrepreneurs, and startup investors—talk with mentors and founders about what giving first looks like in action, and how it makes great entrepreneurship possible. Fox has experience working with a multitude of startup ventures that have started in the LaunchPad and is a mentor for those looking for direction and clarity in their business ideas. He is founder of Jumpstart Marketing.
The event is open to the public, free of charge. All are welcome to attend.
