The Blackstone LaunchPad at Syracuse University Libraries is seeking an Engagement Scholar for the fall 2018 semester.  LaunchPad Engagement Scholars are typically eligible for a credit-bearing internship, to be discussed with the student, and his or her academic department.

The Blackstone LaunchPad is a campus-based experiential program open to students, alumni, staff and faculty. Offering ideation, coaching and venture creation support, the Blackstone LaunchPad connects Syracuse University’s innovation ecosystem with a global network providing support for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The Blackstone LaunchPad Engagement Scholar program is designed to focus on social and civic entrepreneurship. LaunchPad Scholars provide peer mentoring of student ventures, assist with student outreach, and plan special events that broaden the number students engaging in entrepreneurship across campus.  Scholars will help with special business plan competitions such as the Syracuse University Impact Prize and campus Hult Prize, held each fall for social entrepreneurs who are developing  ventures that serve a broader social purpose.

Blackstone Engagement Scholars will also assist in creating profiles of students engaged in social entrepreneurship across campus, and produce content for the LaunchPad website, e-news, and other communications channels.

The ideal candidate will be interested in social enterprise, civic entrepreneurship and venture development.  Successful candidates will also possess a strong sense of cultural literacy and exposure to global trends and markets, given the large number of international students that are part of the program.  Candidates will be attuned to inclusive entrepreneurship, and be able to work across disciplines as well as across cultures.

The ideal candidate will devote the number of hours required for a credit-bearing internship.  Hours are flexible and can be tailored to fit the successful applicant.

To apply, send a CV and cover letter explaining both your interest in the internship and how it aligns with your educational, personal and career goals to:  LaunchPad@syr.edu
