Come hear a keynote presentation  by Ed Mitzen ’89, Founder and CEO of Fingerpaint, as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week opening events, Monday, November 14 at 7 p.m., 202 Hall of Languages.  Sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences Advising & Career Services.

Appropriately referred to as “the serial entrepreneur,” Mitzen graduated from Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences in 1989, and has gone on to build companies that total more than $300 million in combined revenues. His current venture, Fingerpaint, is a full-service marketing and advertising firm,  with offices in NY, PA and AZ.  It has been named one of Inc. Fastest Growing Companies for the past four years, with revenues currently exceeding $30 million.

A large portion of the firm’s work is within the life sciences industry, leveraging Mitzen’s BS degree in Biology from Syracuse University to become a very successful entrepreneur in the life sciences and medical space.

Beyond creating an award-winning advertising and marketing agency, Mitzen was also one of the drivers behind the renaissance of Saratoga Springs, redeveloping the former Barnes and Noble on Broadway.  Learn how creativity sparked both business innovation and community revitalization by one of the fastest growing companies in Upstate New York.

Mitzen was recently named Industry Person of the Year by Med Ad News for his career milestones. His philanthropic contributions were also praised, including lecturing at top colleges and universities, and serving on the board of directors for several not-for-profit, New York-based organizations, including The Hyde Collection art museum, Capital Region Chamber of Commerce, Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the Double H Ranch, a camp that provides specialized programs for children and their families dealing with life-threatening illnesses.

Other recent Fingerpaint initiatives included a partnership with the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, and it has plans to launch an ideation/innovation group that will offer products and services to help answer the needs of the ever-changing communications landscape.

Fingerpaint is projected to expand both revenue and employee hires across all offices this year.
